Slave Clocks
Replace an individual time display or add another clock to an existing installation with compatible receiving hardware. HC Electronics slave clocks display time received from a master clock or central timing source, allowing approved receiving units to follow a common reference.
For replacement and expansion enquiries, start with the equipment you intend to keep. We review the receiving-clock requirements alongside the display, power and mounting conditions for the proposed unit.

Slave Clocks for Your Existing Master
When the master clock is already installed, the receiving clock must match the output actually available to it. The reference entering a master controller can differ from the signal it sends to its slave clocks, so identifying the master’s incoming time source alone is not enough.
Provide the master-clock model and identify the output serving the clock you want to replace or add. Include the existing slave-clock model where available. This establishes a specific equipment pairing for assessment rather than a general request for a clock that “works with a master.”
Compatibility is confirmed for the proposed pairing, not assumed across an entire brand or product category. Identify any requirement to retain the existing controller settings, connection accessories or power arrangement before a replacement is selected.
Replacement Slave Clocks
For a replacement purchase, distinguish what must remain unchanged from what you would like to improve. You may need to preserve the existing timing connection while changing the visible display, or retain the mounting position while replacing the complete receiving unit.
Use the following comparison to define the replacement requirement.
| Existing Requirement | What to Establish for the Replacement |
|---|---|
| Master-clock connection | The specific output and timing format the new slave clock must accept. |
| Electrical supply | Whether the proposed clock can use the supply already present at the installation point. |
| Display appearance | Which elements need to match nearby clocks, such as digit style, displayed information or enclosure finish. |
| Mounting position | Whether existing fixing points, brackets or recesses can be retained. |
| Receiving settings | Any address, group assignment or other receiver setting that must be carried over. |
| Replacement scope | Whether the offer covers a complete clock and which additional connection or mounting parts are required. |
Request a clear statement of any differences between the old and proposed units. A replacement that requires a different bracket or separate power accessory should be identified as such before ordering.
Digital Slave Clock Displays
HC Electronics’ digital display range includes different enclosure dimensions, time formats and mounting arrangements. The available receiving configuration should be checked together with the chosen display.
For a digital slave clock that will sit alongside existing displays, specify which visual details matter. These may include the arrangement of hours and minutes, whether seconds are shown, and the space occupied by the clock on the wall.
For a larger replacement, provide the available opening or mounting area rather than only requesting a larger screen. Ask for the proposed clock’s drawing so the visible display and complete enclosure can be reviewed together.
The selected slave-clock version should be identifiable as a complete product: receiving electronics, display, electrical input and mounting arrangement.
Additional Slave Clocks
For an extension rather than a replacement, state how many clocks are being added and which existing output will serve them. Controller outputs have electrical ratings and connected-load limits, so compatibility with one receiving clock does not establish unlimited expansion capacity.
Request the proposed slave clock’s electrical demand and receiving-interface requirements for review against the existing equipment. Keep the quantity being added separate from the number already installed.
Where several clock groups use different receiving configurations, submit them as separate purchase items. The same external appearance should not be used to identify equipment intended for different connections.
Confirm the Receiving Performance
For a slave clock being evaluated as a replacement, agree how it will demonstrate correct reception from the intended master. Setting both displays to the same time manually is not a substitute for checking that the receiving clock responds to the designated reference.
Ask for the applicable verification method and any initial settings required by the proposed model. Where an evaluation unit is needed, discuss availability and identify the master-clock configuration against which it will be assessed.
Record the approved receiving version with the product reference. This gives later purchases a defined specification rather than relying on a photograph of the installed clock.
Slave Clock Purchasing Questions
Will the slave clock set itself correctly when first connected?
Confirm the initial-setting behaviour of the selected version. A self-setting slave clock obtains its time from the reference signal, but that capability should be specified explicitly rather than assumed from the term “slave clock.”
Ask whether any initial adjustment is required and how successful synchronization is established before the clock enters service.
Does the receiving clock need an individual address?
The addressing requirement must be checked for the proposed receiver. Ask whether the unit requires an individual address, a group assignment or no separate identification setting.
Where an address is required, confirm how it is assigned and include the agreed value or configuration method in the order documentation.
What can I provide when the old slave clock has no readable model label?
Send photographs of the complete clock, its connections and the master equipment, together with any maintenance records or original purchase documents. Identify another working clock on the same output where possible.
These details can support an initial review, but an unlabeled clock should not be treated as positively identified from its appearance alone. Further electrical or communication information may be needed before a replacement can be confirmed.
Find a Slave Clock for Your Installation
Contact HC Electronics with the existing master-clock details and indicate whether you need a replacement, additional displays or spare units. Include the required quantity and any display or mounting features that must be retained.
Request a proposal identifying the receiving-clock version, its compatibility basis and any changes needed at the clock position.
